Truly
Green

AI at scale must not come at the cost of the planet. SustainAI treats clean energy, carbon removal, and ecological restoration as infrastructure — not an afterthought.

Commitments

What we control — and what we work toward

We distinguish credible targets on our own infrastructure from ambitious global outcomes that require partnership across labs, cloud providers, governments, and communities.

SustainAI commitment

100% renewable · by 2030

All SustainAI GPU and CPU compute — training, inference, and research infrastructure we run — powered by renewable energy.

We are actively seeking funding to move all training to 100% renewable GPU infrastructure.

Global aspiration

100% Clean & Restorative AI Energy by 2060

SustainAI Global is committed to helping drive the transition to a clean and restorative energy system for AI by 2060. The overwhelming majority must come from renewable sources, supported by nuclear energy and other low-emissions technologies. Any remaining fossil use must meet verified near-zero lifecycle emissions. Carbon capture, durable carbon removal, and ecological restoration are mandatory.

We also hold a global aspiration of 12.0 GtCO₂ of total annual carbon removal by 2060 — because cutting future emissions is necessary and still not enough. The Earth is already wounded. We must heal it.

We contribute through research, sustainable compute practices, and by catalyzing green tech businesses that build clean energy, carbon capture, and removal infrastructure. We work with partners across industry, academia, and government to close the gap at scale. See MQ Economics for the fuller model.

Carbon removal pathway

Toward 12.0 GtCO₂ annual removal by 2060

An illustrative global pathway for total annual carbon dioxide removal. These are working scenario targets for dialectic and action — not a guaranteed forecast.

Year Total annual removal
2030 2.9 GtCO₂
2035 4.0 GtCO₂
2040 5.5 GtCO₂
2045 7.0 GtCO₂
2050 8.8 GtCO₂
2055 10.5 GtCO₂
2060 12.0 GtCO₂

The 2060 headline goal is 12.0 GtCO₂ of total annual removal. Method mix will evolve; the obligation to reach planetary-scale removal must not.

Why energy is a pillar

We are building a green AI ecosystem powered by clean energy that supports meaningful work, strengthens communities, and helps humanity solve major challenges in healthcare, education, climate restoration, and scientific discovery.

Pro-human AI must run on infrastructure that future generations can live with. That means clean and restorative energy, carbon capture and removal, efficient compute, and responsible environmental stewardship — starting with what we control, then partnering for what the world needs. Abundance that destroys the Earth is not abundance.
